Promoted by Fondazione FAIR, with Fondazione SERICS as co-proponent and a network of 17 partners, SINTESI has entered its operational phase. At the heart of the project is the development of a distributed hub connecting research, businesses and Artificial Intelligence expertise across Southern Italy.
Building a stable and distributed innovation hub in Southern Italy, capable of connecting research, businesses and expertise in Artificial Intelligence. This is one of the main objectives of SINTESI – Intelligent and Secure Cyber-Physical Systems for Healthcare, Industry and Society, a project promoted by Fondazione FAIR, with Fondazione SERICS as co-proponent — both established to implement initiatives funded under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) — and a network of 17 partners, including seven universities in Southern Italy, three research organisations, five SMEs, one large company and one micro-enterprise.
On 23 September, the kick-off meeting was held at the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, marking the operational launch of the project and the transition from the preparatory phase to the implementation of its activities.
The meeting focused on SINTESI’s main scientific and application areas: healthcare, industry, disinformation and cognitive security, technology transfer and training.
A central part of the day was dedicated to the development of the distributed hub, structured around physical nodes in Catania, Naples, Salerno, Bari and Rende. Discussions addressed its architecture, services for businesses, responsibilities and working arrangements among the different organisations involved.
With SINTESI, we aim to turn a network of scientific, technological and industrial expertise into a lasting capacity for research and innovation across the territories involved. The distributed hub in Southern Italy was created with precisely this goal: to connect expertise, infrastructure and needs, building relationships that can continue to generate value beyond the lifetime of the project, said Marta Rapallini, Extended Partnership FAIR Program Manager.
The objective is to build a lasting research and innovation capacity across the territories involved, bringing together scientific, technological and industrial expertise and creating the conditions for the project’s results to translate into infrastructure, services and new opportunities for collaboration.
The kick-off concluded with the definition of the next steps, timeline and deliverables that will guide the project’s operational phase over the coming months.
