A new set of four episodes of “GenIAle” is now available, the podcast produced by FAIR – Future Artificial Intelligence Research and created in collaboration with Il Post. The upcoming episodes will be released starting today, November 28, every Wednesday until December 19. The final three episodes of the series will be released at the end of February 2025.
GenIAle is a podcast dedicated to artificial intelligence, developed through the collaboration between the FAIR Foundation and Il Post. Hosted by Matteo Bordone, known for his daily podcast Tienimi Bordone, the series explores the world of AI through a clear and accessible narrative. Launched in September 2024, the podcast aims to inform and promote scientific culture around artificial intelligence, addressing key questions and challenging superficial or misleading interpretations. Through conversations with leading experts from the FAIR community, GenIAle delves into the scientific foundations of AI and its social and technological implications, highlighting FAIR’s role in advancing research in this field.
Upcoming episodes of GenIAle
The next episodes will focus on:
– human–machine interaction, exploring the encounter between different forms of intelligence. Guests include Luca Iocchi, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Sapienza University of Rome and coordinator of FAIR Spoke 5 “High-quality AI”, and Alessandra Sciutti, researcher at the Italian Institute of Technology, where she leads the CONTACT unit – Cognitive Architectures for Collaborative Technologies.
– AI in healthcare and medicine, highlighting projects within FAIR that support medical professionals in the treatment and prevention of complex diseases. Guests include Paolo Soda, Full Professor at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, Paolo Avesani, researcher at Fondazione Bruno Kessler and director of the Neuroinformatics Laboratory, and Giovanna Castellano, Associate Professor at the University of Bari, where she leads the Computational Intelligence Lab.
– AI and visual data, exploring the world of artificial intelligence applied to images and video, from creative applications to advanced analytical tools beyond human perception. Guests include Elisa Ricci, Professor at the University of Trento and head of the Deep Visual Learning research unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler, and Fabrizio Falchi, Research Director at the ISTI-CNR Artificial Intelligence for Media and Humanities Lab.
“GenIAle” is part of FAIR’s broader commitment to high-quality scientific communication on artificial intelligence—an increasingly relevant topic with significant social impact—ensuring accuracy, raising awareness, and fostering a deeper public understanding.

The first three episodes
A brief overview of the first three episodes:
Episode 1 – “An intelligent animal”: Paolo Traverso and Michela Milano explore the concept of intelligence and its artificial applications, discussing how intelligence can be defined and measured, and explaining the different types of AI models.
Episode 2 – “Good afternoon, good evening and good night”: Barbara Caputo and Dino Pedreschi examine algorithms and deep learning, explaining how machines learn and how algorithms relate to the broader concept of intelligence.
Episode 3 – “The oracle and the matrix”: Roberto Navigli and Rita Cucchiara focus on Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodality, exploring their ability to understand and generate human language, and questioning whether they are truly “intelligent” or simply advanced imitators.
The podcast represents a key part of FAIR’s commitment to promoting multidisciplinary research on artificial intelligence in Italy, bringing together leading universities and companies to develop innovative AI solutions.
Early feedback suggests that GenIAle is gaining strong traction, with audiences appreciating its ability to make complex topics accessible without compromising scientific rigor.
