The spokes are strategically distributed throughout the Italian territory and characterized by a specific thematic area, to address FAIR research challenges from different angles.
The spokes act as catalysts both for the development of innovative AI technologies and for new AI services in strategic sectors for the country, interacting with the industrial sector, represented by both large companies and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, and triggering a virtuous collaboration between the scientific network and FAIR industrial partners. Part of the funds will also be directed to external centers, for startups and companies that want to be involved in the so-called “cascade calls”.
Spokes will also play a role in amplifying AI training opportunities at all levels. In particular, in the field of higher education FAIR will collaborate closely with the National PhD in Artificial Intelligence, coordinated by CNR, Università Campus Bio-medico di Roma, Politecnico di Torino, Sapienza Università di Roma, Università di Napoli “Federico II” e Università di Pisa.
