“GenIAle”, the podcast hosted by Matteo Bordone, produced by FAIR – Future Artificial Intelligence Research and created in collaboration with Il Post, is out today.
In a landscape where definitions of artificial intelligence can vary significantly depending on context and perspective, “GenIAle” aims to bring clarity. The series consists of ten episodes, written by Matteo Bordone—also known for his daily podcast “Tienimi Bordone”—who interviews FAIR experts to explore various aspects of artificial intelligence, tackling highly relevant topics. The first three episodes will be released every Thursday starting from September 26, while the remaining episodes will be released later in the year.
The first episode, available today, September 26, features Paolo Traverso, Director of the Center for Information and Communication Technologies at the Bruno Kessler Foundation and leader of FAIR Spoke 2 dedicated to Integrative AI, and Michela Milano, Director of the Alma Mater Research Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bologna and leader of FAIR Spoke 8 on Pervasive AI. The two experts will discuss the concept of intelligence and its artificial applications, exploring how it can be identified and measured.
The second episode, releasing on October 3, will feature Barbara Caputo, Professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin and leader of FAIR Spoke 7 on Edge-Exascale AI, and Dino Pedreschi, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Pisa and leader of FAIR Spoke 1 on Human-Centered AI. This episode will explore algorithms: their nature, how they work, and their connection to the concept of intelligence, as well as how machines learn through methods such as deep learning.
The third episode, scheduled for October 10, will feature Roberto Navigli and Rita Cucchiara, experts in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and Information Processing Systems, and co-PIs of FAIR’s Transversal Project 2, dedicated to “Vision, language and multimodal challenges.” This episode will focus on ChatGPT and Large Language Models (LLMs), examining their ability to understand and generate human language and discussing whether they are truly “intelligent” or simply imitators.
“GenIAle” is part of FAIR’s commitment to high-quality scientific communication on artificial intelligence—a highly topical subject with significant social impact, widely covered by the media and requiring accurate, well-informed public understanding.
