Improving the understanding of environmental risks, protecting ecosystems, strengthening healthcare services, supporting the digital transformation of companies and making social systems safer: these are some of the challenges where Artificial Intelligence can deliver tangible impact.<\/p>\n
This is the framework in which SINTESI<\/strong><\/a> and AI4Nature<\/strong><\/a> take shape: two projects promoted by Fondazione FAIR within national programmes dedicated to research, innovation, competitiveness, and the green and digital transitions.<\/p>\n The two initiatives mark a new phase of high-level project development for FAIR after the NRRP<\/strong>, confirming the Foundation\u2019s role as an organisation capable of building solid scientific and technological proposals, focused on impact and rooted in collaboration among public research, companies and local areas. This achievement recognises FAIR as an authoritative project proposer and highlights the Foundation\u2019s ability to bring the full strength of Italy\u2019s national Artificial Intelligence ecosystem into play.<\/p>\n The projects involve a wide network of universities, research centres and companies<\/strong>, with particular attention to the less developed regions of Southern Italy<\/strong>, where skills development and technology transfer can make a significant contribution to local growth.<\/p>\n With \u201cSINTESI \u2013 Intelligent and Secure Cyber-Physical Systems for Health, Industry and Society\u201d, Fondazione FAIR is leading a project dedicated to the digital transformation of strategic sectors, with Fondazione SERICS acting as co-proposer. The project brings together 19 partners, including universities, research centres and companies. It is funded under the National Programme for Research, Innovation and Competitiveness 2021\u20132027 and will run for 24 months, with a total budget of \u20ac20 million.<\/p>\n SINTESI aims to support the transition from research to experimentation in real-world environments<\/strong>, turning technologies already validated in the laboratory into operational solutions with a high level of technological maturity. The project will develop intelligent, reliable and secure cyber-physical systems<\/strong> capable of operating in dynamic and complex contexts.<\/p>\n Its applications are wide-ranging: from digital health<\/strong>, with AI platforms for early diagnosis, personalised medicine and clinical decision support, to Industry 5.0<\/strong>, through intelligent and collaborative robotic systems. A further area of application concerns information and cognitive security<\/strong>, with solutions designed to counter disinformation and help protect social systems.<\/p>\n In this way, SINTESI aims to narrow the gap between research and industrial application, supporting the adoption of advanced technologies in concrete operational settings.<\/p>\n \u201cAI4Nature \u2013 Artificial Intelligence for Environmental Risk and Biodiversity Restoration\u201d was created to develop AI-based solutions for environmental monitoring and analysis, risk and resilience management, and the conservation and restoration of biodiversity.<\/p>\n The 24-month project is funded under the National Programme for Research, Innovation and Competitiveness 2021\u20132027. It is led by the National Biodiversity Future Center, with Fondazione FAIR as co-proposer, together with a partnership of 17 organisations including universities, research centres and companies.<\/p>\n AI4Nature brings advanced digital technologies into dialogue with environmental sciences<\/strong> to analyse complex phenomena, anticipate risks and support strategies for ecosystem protection and restoration. Through Artificial Intelligence models, the project aims to improve the analysis of large volumes of environmental data, support the forecasting of critical events and provide tools for more sustainable land management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The activities of SINTESI and AI4Nature will focus on the regions of Southern Italy<\/strong>, where the ecological and digital transitions<\/strong> can play a decisive role in strengthening ecosystem resilience and developing research and innovation value chains.<\/p>\n More specifically, SINTESI will be implemented in Campania, Apulia, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia, while AI4Nature will involve Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Apulia, Sardinia and Sicily.<\/p>\n The two projects share a common vision: to take Artificial Intelligence beyond the laboratory and turn it into a concrete driver of innovation<\/strong>, designed and applied responsibly, sustainably and for the collective good.<\/p>\n With SINTESI and AI4Nature, Fondazione FAIR reaffirms its commitment to promoting human-centred, trustworthy and sustainable AI, capable of generating scientific, industrial and social value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Following the path launched through the NRRP, these new initiatives further strengthen FAIR\u2019s positioning as a national platform able to bring together outstanding expertise, build qualified partnerships and translate research into high-impact projects for the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Two industrial research and experimental development initiatives are bringing Artificial Intelligence into high-impact areas: from biodiversity protection to digital health, from Industry 5.0 to cognitive security.
