Roberto Navigli (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniroma1.it\/it\/pagina-strutturale\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sapienza University of Rome<\/a>) and Prof. Rita Cucchiara (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unimore.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Modena and Reggio Emilia<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iit.cnr.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNR<\/a>) organized the first <strong>workshop on the development of Large Language Models (LLMs) for the Italian language<\/strong>, marking the initial phase in building an Italian and multilingual Large Multimodal Model.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held on Monday, December 18, at the Aula Magna of the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering \u201cAntonio (Barcelona Supercomputing Center), Georg Rehm, Malte Ostendorff and Pedro Ortiz (DFKI), Barry Haddow (University of Edinburgh), Sampo Pyysalo (University of Turku), Magnus Sahlgren (AI
